Book Review-from a Child's point of View #5

The Floods Prime Suspect, By Colin Thompson

Characters: Mordonna, Nerlin, Winchflat, Satenella, Merlinmary,  Morbid, Silent, Betty, Hearse Whisper, The Head Master, FSI, Avid, Gruson,

Setting: Quicklime college.


Plot: There is a murder at Quicklime and the FSI investigate. They suspect that it is Winchflat, Satenella, Merlinmary,  Morbid, Silent and Betty. But the Hearse Whisper is up to her old tricks and had put The Floods DNA and prints on the Head Masters body. They manage to get away with Mordonna's help and visit one of Winchflat's old friends. In the end the floods trap the Hearse Whisper in a bottle and send her to the bottom of the sea.

Summary:This is an easy book to read with a few hard words in it. Its best if you read this series in order so that you have been introduced to all the character and settings. Its suitable for 7 and up. If your a fluent reader it will take about 4 days to read.

Book Review-from a Child's point of View #4

The Floods Survivor, By Colin Thompson

Characters: Mrs Hulbet, Mr Hulbet, Ffiona, Claude, Mordonna, Nerlin, Winchflat, Valla, Satenella, Morbid and Silent, Betty, Angela, Bridie  McTort, Friend #1, Friend #2, Igorina


Setting: Acacia Avenue.


Plot: The Hulbets move into the house next to The Floods, and become best friends with
The Floods.But at Betty's school, Betty and Ffiona manage to get rid Bridie McTort the school bully, and her little sister. Mr. Hulbet is getting bullied by his work manager but Betty,Winchflat and Ffiona manage to turn the boss into a toad.


Summary:This is an easy book to read with a few hard words in it. Its best if you read this series in order so that you have been introduced to all the character and settings. Its suitable for 7 and up. If your a fluent reader it will take about 4 days to read.

Book Review-from a Child's point of View #3

The Floods Home & Away, By Colin Thompson


Characters: Mordonna, Nerlin, Queen Mother (AKA Queen Scratchrot), King Nombre- sept a Quatorze, Vessel, Parsnip, Valla, Satenella, Merlinmary, Winchflat, Hearse Whisper, Howler, Nerlin's Dad

Setting: Transylvania water a place with drains as homes and a castle that looks as if it has stolen pieces of other castle connected to it. The Himalayas. Other places around the world.

Plot: A funny meeting causes Mordonna and Nerlin to fall in love, they end up running away with Queen Mother and Vessel.  Mordonna's father is the King, he wants her to marry someone rich, someone who is a prince. So he sends spies out to capture her and bring her back to Transylvania for a huge reward. Meanwhile, Mordonna is having children Valla, Satenella and Merlinmary. The family find a nice new home in Acacia Avenue and has another four children.

Summary: This is an easy book to read with a few hard word in it. Its best if you read this series in order so that you have been introduced to all the characters and settings. Its suitable for 7 and up. If your a fluent reader then it will take about 4 day to read.

The Floods Playschool

Characters: Mordonna, Winchflat, Satenella, Morbid, Silent, Betty, Merlinmary, Narled ( the suitcase), Orkward Warlock, The Mirror, Beryl (the china doll and the mirrors girlfriend), Alzhammer (the dragon),Proffessor Throat ( NB, PDF, PS, HSC), Prebender Glorious ( Invisibility teacher), Radius leg (Sport with Pain teacher), Doctor Mordant (Genetic Engineering teacher), Mademiselle Fifi la Venus (Elocution and howling teacher), Matron (the doctor), Romeo & Juleit ( The doctors assistants), Miss Phyllis (Special  Breeds teacher), Aubergine Wealth ( Economics and other forms of Burglary (teacher)


Setting: Quicklime College, a wizards school. It has pointy towers and fancy gargles around the top of the walls. There are 365 of everything except doors. There are only 364 doors. Quicklime is hidden in the mountains of Patagonia.


Plot: Orkward Warlock plans to get rid of his arch enemy, The Floods, on sports day. He goes in and out of the dark forest polishing Narled with enchanted wax. Meanwhile the whole school looks for The Toad in their school while The Toad is busy looking for Narled's family.


Summary: This is an easy book to read with a few hard words and ideas. Its best if you read this series in the right order so that you have been introduced to all the characters and settings. Its suitable for 7 and over. If you are a fluent reader then it'll take about 4 days to read.

Book Review- from a Childs point of View #1

The Floods, Neighbours, By Colin Thompson.

Characters: Mordonna (mum), Queen Scratchrot (Mordonnas mother), Nerlin (dad), Valla (oldest brother), Winchflat (2nd eldest brother), Satanella (oldest sister), Merlinmary (sister/brother), Morbid & Silent (twins), Betty (youngest), Mr. Dent, Tracy Lee, Mrs. Dent, Dickie (annoying neighbours), DaVinci, (one of Tracy Lee's boyfriends).

Setting: Acacia Avenue. An ordinary street in an ordinary town that has houses with front and backyards, all except the Floods house, it looks plain from far away, but up close its completely different. Picture window frames that are black with cobwebs and dead flies, a front yard that has thistles and stinging nettles.Grass  that looks as if it has never been watered or mowed. Graves of the Floods semi- dead friends and family. A gate that keeps out unwanted visitors and a mail box that eats the mail and the mail men watches.

Plot: The Floods have very annoying neighbours called the Dents.They are thieves and litterers. The Floods aim to get rid off the Dents so that they can finally have silence.
